@halle-eavelyn, @negeen-dargahi,
I have 2 questions about connecting on LinkedIn:
1. Should I send a personal connection or just let the generic one go. Info says I am more likely to get a response if I send a personal connection request.2. Since I am a realtor and want to connect with realtors and have a product to offer them, what are some ideas for the personal connection request?
My profile shows my Century 21 affiliation, so maybe that is enough.
thanks, Sue

Hi @suzanne-finley, good questions!
- You can go about it two ways. First, you can send your Q1 when you send your connection request. Second, you can add them and THEN later on you can send them Q1 once you are already connected. We find that the second option is more successful and recommended by Kent.
- In my opinion, it takes a lot of time to check someone’s profile, see what their occupation is and then customize the message for them. If this is a concern for you, consider an alternate Q1 like – Great to connect, [NAME]! What’s your core focus?”
@halle-eavelyn, thoughts on #2? -

Thanks @negeen-dargahi
One more…
Since I am launching a new product, is there an approach or question to solicit feedback on the product?
Maybe Q2 or Q3… (to a connected realtor)
I have just launched a new product that will enhance your ability to market your listings and would like to get some feedback on it. Care to take a look?

Hi @suzanne-finley, I would ask this question on the live call if you can.
In my opinion, I do not think you should ask that on the 4 questions. Potentially when you’re on the phone that would be a better time. But again, I would ask on the live call to get some perspective.

I had to go back to work ft on my software dev contract, so I am not having as much time available to work on hecp.
I did get through the videos for the hero story, but I am stalled out on writing mine. I don’t really see how it will fit and what I will use it for.

Hi @suzanne-finley, I’m glad to know you watched the videos!
I personally am very intrigued on how you go into your field of creating single property websites. That would be something worth diving into.
Did you always know that was the field you wanted to be involved in or did one road lead to another?
That is something to think about. With that being said, if you find yourself struggling with your hero story, no worries, hop on one of the live q&a calls and let’s help you find direction.

So, single property websites is software that I developed for realtors. I started developing software in the 1980’s and my first job was with Boeing. Over the years I have worked for companies like Microsoft, Eddie Bauer, and Alaska Airlines. Sometimes, I was a full-time W-2 employee and sometimes a contractor. For the last 8 or so years, I have been doing contract software development, all remote, from my home office. In thinking about my retirement, I took the classes and I got my real estate license about 4 years ago and got on with a local Century 21 office. I did real estate actively for about 6-8 months. At that point, I wasn’t making enough money and I got the “Are you available…?” call from a project manager I had worked with before and went back to software development.
As a realtor, I was frustrated with the poor quality of materials available with the MLS system/application. I own a “special” property…6.5 acres with a large greenhouse, private campground…not your run-of-the-mill tract home. When I hit a time of no work, I had just come off a contract building a secure web portal for a drug testing lab, and I was thinking….hmmm….when I go to sell my property, I want to create a website for it. (At that point, I didn’t know there was an established concept for this…called “Single Property Websites”.) I just set out to build what I would want as a realtor to market my own property. I know what the advertising requirements are, and I know an “Approval” process is needed, etc. So, I build showcasehomesforsale.com with all that in mind.
My other frustration as a realtor, is the cost of everything. I had a high-end website for awhile…$100+ per month. So, I want to offer something that was a reasonable cost and still provide a good product/service. One of my competitors charges $200 per month for the same thing I am charging $30 per month for.
When someone subscribes to showcasehomesforsale.com, they have an account. They can then log in, set up their profile, with their logo, branding colors, marketing blurb for their office, and contact info. They can then add their agent(s) info, including photo, bio, and contact info. Then when they have a property listing, they enter information similar to entering into MLS (# of bedrooms, bathrooms, sq ft, price, etc.) and they upload their photos. With showcasehomesforsale.com, they can enter expanded descriptions as well as captions and descriptions for their photos. When they publish their showcase, a unique url is created. This url can then be used in social media advertising, text marketing, and other online marketing that allows links (craigslist doesn’t allow links anymore). It can be used on the flyers and also in email marketing. The showcase is an attractive showing of their listing, as well as their office info, office map, contact info, all the agent info with bios etc.
Of course, I have created an account for my Century 21 office. Here is a link to a showcase I created for one of the listings in my office: https://c21nuggetrealty.showcasehomesforsale.com/property/430-ELK-DR-Cottage-Grove-OR-97424/
In my software development, I have done alot of database development, so of course, there is a database behind the website, keeping track of everything. All the payment processing is being handled by Stripe, so I don’t do anything with anyone’s credit card info.
Anyway…probably more than you wanted to know. Somehow, I have to turn this into my “Hero Story”.

@halle-eavelyn – tagging you in this so you can lead Su in the right direction with her reply above your post.
@suzanne-finley – what you have is good!! Consider diving deeper into some of your struggles with your business, finances and how you overcame those obstacles by persevering.
I would re-watch Halle’s hero story with new eyes and begin writing your story. Even if it’s not perfect 🙂
