Hello! I have a closing right at 11:30am tmrw so I will not be able to attend the call! But I will definitely listen to the recording!
I’m having a hard time with how specific my client avatar is! After thinking about it(probably too much!), my favortie clients have been ones that were going through a breakup and decided that selling their homes would help them move on with a fresh start. I’m not necessarily talking about couples going through a divorce. Although, I’ve helped those people too. I’ve noticed that more and more people are buying homes together with a gfriend/bfriend where only one is the actual owner.
My favorite clients are the men, that after their partner has left, are wondering if they should sell. This makes the process less tricky for me since legal matters aren’t typically involved when they weren’t married to begin with and only one person’s name on the title/mortgage. I lean towards men for a few reasons. Not to stereotype, but men usually feel like they need help getting their homes ready for the market. Cleaning, rearranging, decor/staging etc. And I do all of that for my sellers as well. I will actually get in there, roll my sleeves up and help them update! I’ve done tile jobs(floor, backsplash), refinish cabinetry, paint rooms, cut & install trim, and bring in staging items(I also refinish furtinure on the side so I have inventory). I love doing this just as much as selling the house!
I also feel that men who are heartbroken or in a transitional stage open up to women much easier since they don’t feel like they have to be macho all the time. My whole life, people seem to open up to me very, very easily. And I absolutely value their trust! I love feeling like I’ve helped my clients on a more personal/meaningful way than just showing up in a stuffy, professional suit and conducting a cold transaction. I get so much more personal satisfaction from helping these clients that are struggling emotionally feel like they are moving forward. “Newly or nearly Single? I can help my clients decide if moving out will help them move on!” or something like that, has been what keeps popping back into my head to grab attention.
On the call on Monday, I brought this up. Halle was a little concerned about finding groups where I could connect with these people. I did search, even for divorce support groups for professionals in my area, and yeah….there isn’t much. Lots of divorce attorneys though! However, as stated above, my perfect client isn’t necessarily “divorcing.”
I guess my question is,….if the divorce rates are so high(especially after quarantines w the pandemic), wouldn’t there be just as many people going through breakups with a domestic partner? And shouldn’t I be able to find these people in almost *any* group? Heartbreak isn’t industry or hobby specific I’d imagine? Am I being WAY TOO specific? I guess I don’t know yet exactly how the groups fit in with targeting our perfect client. I can understand the overall picture, but I haven’t advanced that far because I’m stuck on narrowing this down or maybe broadening my avatar?
Thanks so much!!

Jumping in. Since I resemble that remark, suggesting maybe: men who are in a transitional stage that need an objective anchor and fresh, caring perspective to help them move forward

Thank you for jumping in Brian! I really appreciate that! Do you mean that you’re in that transitional stage now too? Don’t mean to pry, just wondering if I understood that correctly. I really like “men who are in a transitional stage that need an objective anchor and fresh, caring perspective to help them move forward.” I wonder how many people are out there that have been “thinking” about selling their home and moving but haven’t actually reached out to a Realtor yet because they think they need to have already decided to sell? Sometimes people just need a sounding board. And I want to articulate that in my profile; no pressure. Sometimes just talking about their situation will bring them clarity. And in the event they decide they want to definitely stay in their current home, hopefully I’ve created enough rapport with them that they refer me in the future or call me when it DOES feel like the right move for them. I feel like people who are hurting or struggling with an emotional compenent in their lives for sure have a heightened radar/antenna for compassion. Are you an agent too?

@amanda-peterson Sorry Amanda! We have some automation that automatically adds it to the library, but something broke apparently! I am manually adding it now, so it will be available in 15 minutes or so!
