        So one response I have gotten from the 1st question is a sales pitch.  (See Below)

          So my second question is…  Interesting,  What has been your primary focus this year?

          This does not seem to be an authentic response – and they seem to be either in your business or mine….   Not sure what to do.  Maybe I haven’t got there yet.

          Hi @matthew-hills, in this case, try to gain back control of the conversation by going straight to your next question. If it seems they are just trying to sell you on something, just keep moving forward with a new connection.
