I am going to cut and paste a couple of replies I received to my Q #1 (What is core business function?).  Not sure how to answer these:

“Paul – good to hear from you.  Not sure I understand your question, but I am in software sales.  I have sold many different types of technology, but currently focused on Supplier Information Management and portals.  Is that what you are asking?”

“Sorry I’m confused. Are you looking to hire me or looking to show me what your offer??”

“Hey Paul, hope you are well too. I’m in Supply Chain. Anything in particular you are looking for?”

“Hi Paul, we met through networking many years back. I sense this is a cold LI outreach campaign vs. a persona connect. Good luck with the campaign. If there is something specific, please let me know. Glad to be a networking partner.”

My Q #2 would not appear to be an approriate response to these replies.  Any advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @paul-gennuso! That could be because ‘function’ should not be in the question.

It should read as: “Great to connect, [NAME]! What’s your core business?”

Or you could ask “What’s your core focus for 2020?”

Then, you Q2 will flow appropriately after.

Keep sending out those Q1 and remove “function”.

So I am a little confused now because I formulated Q #1 based on your response to a previous question I had:  Here was your reply:

“Hi @paul-gennuso! Yes, we definitely recommend that – or you could say:

Great to connect [NAME]! What’s your core focus?

Your Q2 is good but don’t add (or I believe) because it discredits what you’re saying. Always remain alpha!

            Good work 🙂”

Hi @paul-gennuso – my apologies on the confusion! What I want to make sure is that you are not adding the word “function” in your Q1. That is the reason there is confusion.

I’d recommend using one of these as your Q1:

              1. Great to connect [ NAME]! What’s your core business?
              2. Great to connect [ NAME]! What’s your core focus for 2020?

Does this answer your questions and relieve the confusion?
