After a careful review of Kent’s good (four) questions and with a clear understanding that they have been extensively tested with positive results, I have the following observation followed by my question:

It appears to me as a seasoned financial advisor to high net worth business owners, that Kent’s “Core Questions” are more appropriate (intended) for your own HEC services program.  Knowing about someone’s core business and who their target market might be has no apparent relevance to my financial consulting practice.  Further, if my LinkedIn members did respond, how could I possibly respond with “Perfect”  “It appears that we could potentially be a good connection for each other”?

Then to follow I have no idea how to ethically respond with:  “If I could show you a way without spending more time or energy to etc”?  Because that is not what I do.

I like the idea of short and succinct meaningful questions:  For example, would any of these questions be appropriate in your professional opine to offer:

          1) Have you figured out how to apply the new Tax Law to your “own” situation?

          2) Do you have an interest in reducing your income taxes this year?

          3) Do you know someone who needs expert tax planning help for the sale of their business?

          4) Have you figured out how to protect your family from the risk of catastrophic illness (Long Term Care)?

          5) Would you like to see how I have helped a client save taxes and simultaneously accomplish his dream of helping injured veterans be reunited with their families?

          6) Are you faced this year with a large tax liability on an appreciated asset that needlessly rewards the IRS?

The follow up responses could be designed to follow the “theme” of Kent’s other good questions!

@john-house I am sure Kent will offer his valuable advice. If I was the target of your Qs, I would think you are coming on a little tad too strong when a relationship is yet to be established. If I was you, I would tone down a lot.

I hope this is the right way to submit a question:

I have begun the new system after working part-way through the old system.  I came to the avatar section and heard things I had not heard previously.  I heard either Kent or Halle say that “the avatar need to be personality based”.  I didn’t hear that part before so I have begun to completely rework my avatar.  As part of the exercise I listed a large number of individuals I already associate with and know and used the questions on them (in my own mind) and also answered the questions as I would view them personally.  As I worked through all the questions with a number of people (not clients or prospects, just associates and friends) I came to the conclusion that virtually everyone has very similar answers to those avatar questions.  My takeaway is that “everyone is the same” so I should not allow myself to be intimidated or uncomfortable with “prospects”, or “strangers” because we all have such similar thoughts, feelings and concerns that it doesn’t matter what anyone else is dealing with I can relate to them and they can relate to me.  Obviously, as an individual runs a business or does a certain job they have tasks specifically related to that, and those things would be helpful to know, but in approaching people in diverse businesses with different specific tasks if I can simply relate to them an another individual I should be able to connect and therefore build rapport with them.

Is this part of, or the main part of, the focus in the avatar process or am I completely off base?

              Thanks,
              Craig

Hello good people. I seek guidance on using LinkedIn ProFinder. I get requests for Public Speaking coach a few times a week. I reply with an hourly rate quoted which you must do, repeat briefly in their words what they have requested – to meet the 200 character requirement, and then recommend we hop on the phone (a complimentary 15 minute phone call) so that I can share with them how to achieve their goals. Nothing, crickets, no reply.

Is LinkedIn ProFinder worthy of my time or simply folks price shopping?

                Thank you!

                  Hello HECP Team!

What’s the position / recommendation on whether or not we should use professional (i.e., purchased) video “Intros” and “Outros”  that would include our logo and business them in order establish consistent branding on our videos?

                  Best,

                  teresa davila
